At least Arrau is the only one here on youtube who seems to share my idea of this being an unusually tender and delicate beginning for a sonata... All the others, Eschenbach, Uchida, Barenboim, even Haebler is very fast on this upgoing beginning and rash and harsh. Arrau is a little too soft compared to historical evidence with the staccati... but thats simply his way of playing Mozart...
` I will not compare to Eschenbach but one hears niceties here not heard there.Clarity and each phrase's musicality. Eschenbach has some different ideas on touch and cantilene .Arrau was fastidious and songful always! Strange Clementi wrote concert sonatas .This is extremely diff but it still seems like something written for a small audience.Beethoven went so far as did Hadyn !

Beautiful!
And so nice to see the differences with his 1941 recording.
Thx for posting this!!
PS: Mozart composed 18 Sonatas and D-major K.576 is the last one he made in 1789.
I feel, the headline should be changed to Sonata No.18
Cheers!
