Correction: this video was recorded about 6 moths ago. The phone video is the most recent video.

After a year in working condition, my front room blu ray player stopped reading every single disc format. My original fat ps3 is 2 and a half years old and was able to read discs, and still does today, just fine with no problems. I'm looking for some help to fix this problem and if anyone else has this problem, make a video response on either outlining the process to fix the problem or ask the same question. All stupid video responses and nasty comments will be blocked.

  • does it work with a blu-ray disc because some blu-ray players only play blu-ray discs and nothing else !!! sorry if its a silly question !!!!lol

  • @stuartellis2006 My mistake; I didn't try a blu ray in this video but it doesn't read them either. All of the blu ray players I have seen play DVDs and CDs; just not mini discs (MDs) and UMDs (used in the PSP) since they have non-removable cases around them.

  • @mattsprinter ok ! i would contact sony ! there is a sale of goods act you could throw at them but thats what we do in the uk !! contact them and they should replace it or just take it back to the store ! thats if you didnt buy it along time ago ! but sony should replace it anyway !!!!!! if you tell them about the sale of goods act 1979 then they should sort it out !!!!!

  • @stuartellis2006 I would do that but it's past warranty by at least 2 years so SONY probably wouldn't do anything about it. I do have a SONY store close by so I'll get their opinion. But if they say anything about throwing it out, I DON'T THINK SO!!!! I'm hanging on to it until it's fixed. I just feel as if it's too new and too expensive of a machine to just get thrown out OR recycled. I'll get SONY's opinion and make my decision based on what they say. Thanks for the tips.

  • @stuartellis2006 ok ! i did ask around and it has been suggested that its the laser head ! its probably got some crap on it or needs changing ! that happend to a friend on his player and all they done was change the laser for about £50 ! maybe $50 or60 or less !!! not much more than that but try a cleaner or use a ear bud to gently clean it !

  • @stuartellis2006 Cool. I'll try it out soon. Thanks.

  • @Oliver2KX No, I still haven't found the solution yet. Shortly after I got this problem, I got a PS3 slim which does a much better job on playing all disc formats. When I do find a solution to fix the problem, I will post another video talking about it and show how to fix it unless someone adds a video response to this video.

  • Hi there I discover today that I have the same problems as you same blu ray player same no disc etc I search on google and not find anything. Did you find something that can fix it? That would be a shame to need to buy another one.. Thanks for your help . If I find something ill send a message. have good day
