This is a song I wrote for my mother.
Lyrics: She grew up a country girl,
I imagine pigtails and curls.
Daddy wouldn't let her see the boys,
With their fast and shiny toys.
An Oldsmobile was one to be,
James said "Sis" go to town with me.
She didn't like..... the country life,
The mountain air........to her nowhere.
Two young boys she had in tow,
She and James moved to Ohio.
A field of dirt they settled down,
Nowhere in sight was there a town.
Electric line , a muddy well,
Old trailer home I'm sure was hell.
She didn't like..... the country life,
The mountain air.......to her nowhere.
Life didn't go as she had planned,
She found herself another man.
He loved her so we'd all agree,
A mama's boy he turned to be.
As time moved on......her dreams would fade,
She was proud of the life she'd made.
She didn't like...... the country life,
The mountain air........to her nowhere.
Been a year since she's gone,
We all keep her memory on.
It was her babies she truly loved,
Now we speak to her above.
She didn't like...... the country life,
The mountain air........to her nowhere.
She grew up a country girl.
Frettin........you did a great job! She's proud of you!!!
