@HeyThereNightmerexx first if all mayas parent are still together but selena's parent broke up. And secondly selena started working at age 9 on barney but he used "flower shop" as a metephore so it wouldn't get too obviouse. So it is about selena.

PROOF THAT THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT SELENA:
in one of the jonas brothers songs off their second album "the jonas brothers", theres this song on it that nick wrote called just friends. look it up. in the lyrics it says "i've been making plans, like a picket fence and a rose garden." this was in 2007, prob wayyy before he had selena on his mind. my best guess is that rose garden is about his childhood friend maya.
