This isn't a car, it's a cookie tin that had wheels put on it. Unless they're planning to sell it at $5000 or less out the door, any one who would buy this would have to be basket case because he'd be asking himself over and over again, "Why did I buy this"?

it does have an international scout look to it... daihatsus are among the best-built cars in the world. it would be a hit in the US, but of course it would have the toyota name on it.

Ugly? Well pretty much yes. Practical? Certainly. Make that cheap, produce it locally and people will buy it. There IS indeed a market for that kind of cars. People that do not care if they drive un ugly car, people in the country side wishing to have an easy ride, professionals, and of course car rental companies in touristic places. The market counts in the millions so I would say to Daihatsu to make it (only a bit more beautiful, square maybe but it does not have to be so ugly)
