@roosswald Actually, I think it goes faster with the score, and once you overflow the score counter (at 9999 or 99999, not sure) and it goes from zero, then it starts at original speed :)
I owned one in my elementary school, somewhere in mid 80s. Drained lots of batteries with it (4 x C batteries, if I remember) :)
I could overflow the score and make it go from zero a couple of times. It would go faster every time you kill a wave of aliens, I think, just like you're bumping up the speed knob.
I liked the huge LED screen and lovely sound. It was really playable, better than computer versions. Gave it to a friend who "lost" it (probably broke it but was afraid to admit :) )
