Gas-Erzeugung aus Calciumcarbid, Gas generation from calcium carbide

Eine mit Hisbiscus-Tee gefüllt Ampulle wurde mit der Öffnung nach unten gedreht. Ein 20 mg schweres Körnchen von Calciumcarbid befindet sich auf dem Boden des Aluminiumbechers. Für eine chemische Reaktion stellt man jetzt die Ampulle mit dem Tee auf das Körnchen. Ein Gas entsteht, das Flüssigkeit aus der Ampulle drückt. Ihre Farbe ändert sich von Rot nach Grün. Das zeigt an, dass sich eine alkalische Lösung gebildet hat.
An ampoule full of hisbiscus tea was turned upside´down. 20 mg of calcium carbide were placed on the bottom of the aluminium beaker of a tealight. Now the ampoule with tea is placed onto the grain in the beaker for chemical reaction. A gas is released that replaces liquid inside the ampoule. It colour changes to green indicating an alkali solution.
