  • No doubt this was aired while countless young American men were being slaughtered in Vietnam for no reason. These boys pictured here would be the next to go. Just saying.

  • If I recall correctly, this was the opening of a network TV special, and was shot at the CBS Studio City complex. They really made excellent use of the facility for this, that's for sure.

  • I love that there is a youtube but i am so tired of their bandwidth problems - if you listen at a popular time., it takes 10 minutes to watch a 3 minute video with all the stops for reload. - it is frustrating

  • @lwranch Interesting info. THANKS!!!!!

  • It appears that the conductor at the end was Meredith Willson, the composer. My guess is that it was shot in LA in early 60's. The marching and playing was top notch, so I wouldn't be surprised if he directed this clip. It also wouldn't surprise me if his Russian singer wife "Rini" wasn't the last vocalist in the perfomance.

  • Where is this, and how did they get it to sound as good as this in such a big area? And why is it in black and white?

  • The little girl in the beginning looks eerily like my mother, but she was never in California as a child. Creepy!
