Oh sure, because hitting/hurting -kids- is soooo right, and being peaceful or using reason without resorting to physical harm is just SO stupid in comparison. *sarcasm*

Seriously,-not- hurting people is a mistake? Please explain to me why anyone should have the right to physically harm another (besides in self defense).

  • @ashcroft8 ohhh no no no no no. thats bad. spankings are just wrong and sexual

  • When I'm at the point in my life where I feel that I can relate more to who Virginia Woolf was like, that is a major problem, yet I've learned to accept it.

Why do I make this statement? Because like Virginia, I witnessed students getting abused by the hands of a sadistic teacher, who really should be rotting in a damn prison cell. Virginia had an abusive mother, like me, and similar to me, grew up to have severe mental issues. The only difference is I don't hear birds talk to me in Greek.

  • @joyr36 What if somebody spanked you? What would you think then? If without your consent, somebody decided to smack your bottom?

Children are people as well - different from adults - yet still people. When I saw my mum smack my sister, and witnessed other children at school getting smacked..just knowing that there are people who get given the so-called right to spank..made me sick and still disgusts me.

So slapping is just as abusive and wrong as beating/whipping. Please get it right.

  • @CH127 It also sounds like to me that you have turned out to be an insensitive, narrow-minded prick. You act as though you have turned out so wonderfully when really you haven't. You are still openly mean and horrid, insensitive..and I hope that you never have children. I'll be damned if my children turn out to be like you.

When my parents gave me stern lectures, grounded me, told me 'no', and didn't consistently give me what I wanted..I respected them for it and still do now.

  • @CH127 Did you know that there are other ways to punish children? From the sounds of it your parents only taught you one way which is a very bad way.

I think it is disgusting when people like you try to justify this crap. I was brought up with corporal punishment also and I've turned out to be a distrusting, paranoid human being. It's embarrassing to say that but it's true, I have so many problems in my life and most of it I know has stemmed from being smacked as a child.

    Shame on you.

  • @supertruth77 that's not corporal punishment that's abuse

  • I totally think that corporal punishment should be allowed I'm 14 and I'm in 9th grade in the u.s and so many kids are so disrespectful to my teachers that I want to knock them through the wall also suspensions don't solve any thing they just end up making the little brat mad and end up being more defiant when they come back

  • @DOBERMAN7203 ... sexual? I believe that depends on your personal interests o.0

  • @Kadiezi What I described is not electroshock therapy (ECT) LOL

ECT is performed on anesthetized, patients suffering from drug resistant psychological illnesses. (Not punishment)

I am a psychologist and my take on CP is: I advice parents TO NEVER USE IT , as I know that they're too emotionally involved to do it correctly. It's scarcely effective & hurts the child psychologically when done haphazardly

But I acknowledge rare institutional cases where CP is indispensable, like one I described

  • @Kadiezi when a boy (7) mutilates his eyes it's not insane at all, believe me. If there were other options, - they were tried without success, while the clock was ticking for the boy. Then someone tried an insane solution and it worked. This is called experimental science & it saved the boys eyes.

You asked a question why anyone should (have the right to) hurt another except in self defense, and I provided a technicality. So now you know why and in which situations. Enjoy :-)

  • @dharmanova

Also, I'm not a big fan of electro shock therapy, even as a last resort. If I'm not mistaken, there are a few possible side effects which are, how should I put it, enough of a problem to make it seem like an insane option.
