The Active Cantenna is Back! But this time we've added a Direct TV Satellite Dish to see what wifi improvements, if any, it makes. Jim finishes the Pudding Cup Capacitor in this episode. Tommy brings us some cool night time photography tricks (or treats). And George found a neat Free PDF creation tool you just may want.

The show runs about 43 minutes.

  • The dish is the same as Motorola Canopy has had on their backhauls since 2001 or 2002 and at 5.7ghz you could get 20+ miles between backhaul points. In 2006 I had two old Pegasus dishes with cantennas and a WRT54G on my side and WET unit on my son's end - was able to give him wifi 6 blocks away. Of course I had to lock it with MAC and encoding to keep others from using the signal (forgot at first during test and 2 leeches hooked onto the signal). It worked perfectly for 2 yrs till he moved.
