Si, amigo. Según tengo entendido, Ringo trabajaba en un barco cuando estaba más chavo. Y una vez comieron un platillo hecho con pulpo, pero el Capitán de la embarcación no quiso comer; entonces le contó a Ringo que los pulpos en su vida la pasaban recolectando piedras para hacer jardines submarinos, esto a Ringo lo maravilló y por eso hizo la canción.

ringo wrote this when he quit the band for 2 weeks during the recording of the White Album. its about exactly what it sounds like. he was on a boat and the captain (or someone) told him something about octopus's and it led to this song.
