At the 2009 "State of the Industry" address to the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM)), President/CEO of NAMM, Joe Lamond, asked

Wheatware to explain its incredible success entering the music industry during the recession of 2008-09. During the interview segment, Wheatware's CEO Warren J. Kirsch explained that while summer is a time music store buyers typically don't buy merchandise, and were also cutting back because of the recession, they loved the concept of "music going green". He explained in front of an audience of approx. 2000 music merchant members how Wheatware USA expanded its sales over the summer into 550 independent music stores in 49 states and 11 countries.
