  • No you dont have to go bare metal like I did. I did it with a sandblaster wich is not a good idea. But if u wish to do so use paint remover, thats the ticket. But still u dont have to go bare metal. But when u sand and do hit bare use zinch chromate primer or etch primer. I used rustoleum, wich is becoming popular, and touch up is so easy with rustoleum. But for longer lasting use enamel hardener wich they sell at tractor supply. Good luck!

  • Thanks folks80, I will post soon on the water!!

  • Thanks Man,,looking forward for some more painting.

  • Thanks man , its a 18ft starcraft holiday. I moved the dash forward a foot to give me more space.

  • @lufrewop9789 Mine is a 1959 Marinette (search that) 28 footer

  • @lufrewop9789 What mix ratio did you add the hardner? Was the Rustoleum their marine paint? And did you use the same paint even on parts that will be below the waterline since the boat will not live in the water? I am painting mine with Rustoleum also .... a little more area of course ha ha !!!

    Cool paint job !!!!

  • Hey if you dont mind me asking, do you use the boat on fresh or saltwater? Also, how is the paint holding up?

  • nice boat im working on a 76 starcraft 16ft ss my self these boats cant be beat and can be had for pennies on the dollar if your willing to put a bit of work into it

  • looks great!!

  • Looks great! I'm looking at repainting mine - do you mind if I ask how you approached your job (is it a case of sanding back to the bare alloy, etch Primer, and a few layers of paint)?

Any other tips or advice for a novice?

  • like your style there my man
