Ian Vasquez is the Director of Cato's Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity. He appeared on Washington Journal on March 13, 2011 and said that we should question the effectiveness of much of our government's foreign aid spending (about $50 billion a year). He also noted that it would be wise to make a distinction between humanitarian emergency aid and long-term development aid; the latter usually doesn't do a very good job of relieving poverty and sometimes ends up in the hands of dictators.

  • that guy's hair is scared of his scalp

  • good video

  • Cutting off foreign aid wouldn't save us a lot, but it's something that should be easy to do, just like ending the policy of having a plethora of troops in rich, European countries that can defend themselves. I appreciate what we try to do to protect and assist downtrodden people in poor nations but we can't be earth's police force.

  • Jesus, Hillary looks like she's been 'rode hard and put up wet' as they say down in Texas. Time for her to go.

  • thumbs up
