This show isn't very realistic, there's something inhuman and supernatural about it. it has the mood and tone of the exorcist it's corny. If Martin Scorsese or the British equivalent had wrote and directed this it would've been much better. insufficient dialogue, lack of passion and personality, it should've been dirty, sleazy, macho and chatty, not quiet, somber and foreboding, at least, not primarily. However, I thought they did a good job with the mom, she came off as a real person.
