Producer and Director, Terry Jastrow talks about studying at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, Milton Katselas and Writing and Directing. Terry believes that every artists needs to practice his art. For actors and directors it's a collaborative art, and we need a theater and a place to explore and train our existing art and to seek new ground and find new challenges and explore new challenges as actors. The BHP is a safe, encouraging, exciting place to study. Terry says that the teachers, fellow students and environment is such that you can be the student and the fool at the same time, in that you're encouraged to explore the outer limits and to find what's unique and new outside of the box. Terry has had an interesting experience at the Beverly Hills Playhouse because he was a network sports director for years. He has studied with Milton for 30 years. He decided, when he came back to class, that he wanted to develop his own material. That set me off on a path of writing, and he had never written anything in his life. He wrote a play, which began as a scene, which continues to develop. It was produced my Camelot Artists and Terry discovered that he was a terrific writer. That process happened under the safe and encouraging eye of Milton, who is a great teacher and mentor and who nurtures the artist. Terry says that if there's one compelling thing to say about Milton, it's that he will kindle the artist in you and help you find the artist in you. Whether you're a writer, director or actor, and you're looking for a safe and encouraging haven, the Beverly Hills Playhouse is for you. Terry says "and it's fun!" In class, the work is the highest possible standard, equal to or better than what you'd find in feature films or on television. A person not only finds their own voice, but begins to explore the outer extremities of their talent. Terry finds it extremely exciting not only to watch the journey of other artists, but to be engaged in the journey himself.
