Cape Coral This is a very strong storm shelter we built that cost $3500. It took 3 weeks to complete and was a lot of work. The storm shelter has a low 7 feet profile providing very strong wind ptotection.

  • Hi guys, I just subscribed.

I would have to agree a bit with meco3hp. I lived in Miami during Hurricane Andrew, and maybe adding a toilet would have been ideal. From my limited experience and knowledge, I know it would have been a ton of work even under the most ideal circumstances, but probably would pay off if you shelter with other family.

Nevertheless, you guys are awesome and did a grade-A solid job on this.

What kind of trees are those in the back again? I couldn't quite catch the name.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response. They are Loquat Trees.

  • Solid work, Dan. You're and the Mrs. are badass.

    Love it.

  • :-) Thank you for the great comment!

  • I agree with Pwl47. Very few people I know are actually DOING things. This generation is more "all talk-no do". (Good ideas tho). It is definitely a treat to see folks like you and Denise. Thanks for the videos.

  • :-) THANK YOU:-)

  • that thing looks like it could take smalls arms fire no problem, it's like your own little bunker.

  • Dan you remind me of my Dad's generation(I'm 62), they could and would do absolutely anything. You and Denise personifiy the best of the American spirit.

  • This is great

  • nice!

  • the guy that did the block work on the stem wall that my house sits on was an artist ,i think that skill is a dying art ,like you said no one really cares because they cover it with stuco, great video

  • Wow, awesome job. Wonder how much it would cost to build this now. Seems everything is more expensive. Did you put heavy duty hinges and/or dead-bolts on the door? I noticed it looked very secure but only had the one door handle?

  • What a treasure she is, hurricanes would be welcome to keep close company.

  • very good vidéo !!

  • That is just awesome! Here in Quebec we don't have to worry about hurricanes but we are getting more and more tornadoes (dame climate change), ice storms and snow storms are also a problem. Keep up the great work.

  • Dan & Denise, you guys did a super job. I was impressed with the roof which is usually the weak spot. Next time you do brickwork check out the BRICKY invention, it is a simple tool that allows novices to lay near perfect brick quickly.

Hurricane Andrew made me appreciate what you are doing. make sure you have plenty of fresh running water for after a storm.

  • very smart project, wanna make me one?

  • kool
