Michael Ignatieff is ambushed by Greenpeace activists at UBC who were protesting his tarsands stance. Greenpeace protesters held banners showing quotations where Ignatieff demonstrated his support for the tarsands and they shouted their anti-tar sands chant.

  • While I do not agree with Greenpeace's tactics, as they were very disrespectful to Ignatieff and misrepresented the UBC population, I firmly believe that Ignatieff had no substantive position on the tarsands. Mentioning that it is in Canada's national interest and that it provides 6 billion dollars of tax revenue does not convince me that the negative environmental consequences are worth the comparatively minor benefits. Moreover, should we be looking out for multinational oil corporations?

  • if greenpeace dont stand up for whats right then who will. cause i dont see you pulling your thumb out of your ass anytime soon.

  • @simmsa24 Thank you rising above the "us & them". I don't agree with all of their tactics. I did see a doc. on the Lupicon Cree's plight on their youtube channel. People I spoke to had not heard of Keystone, let alone the Lupicon. Or how our government deals with "collateral damage. My deepest concern is for our Boreal Forest, our land our water, our air, our health, our future and the impact vs. reward of the proposed Keystone (who has had 12 leaks in 12 months) XL pipeline. We are the change.

  • @crazyeyemother you're junk!

  • Fucking hell, there really are no good candidates to vote for in Canada anymore.

  • Greenpeace are Junk.

  • For being such an amazing information depository, I seriously question the intellegence of people who use the internet!

  • @Proudnewfoundlander1 I bet you hate baby seals too, being from Newfoundland and all......

  • It's a SAD reality that so many people including our politicians are supporting something CURRENTLY causing so much destruction and disease. If Iggy was really concerned about sustainability and that includes sustaining people's health and well being, then he would support a moratorium on TS devo until the science shows us that we can move ahead - BUT right now, science shows Canada is embarking on something very dangerous - this is a real injustice - and people clap in ignorance?

  • @88yomama88 no they didn't - they remained on stage for the remainder of the presentation. They were disruptive. As micheal said, they made their point and should have moved aside so others could ask questions
