The world's largest city wide metro rail system has doubled in size in just over one year. The city of Shanghai and the Chinese government expect it to double again this decade. At a cost of several hundred billion dollars, did the Chinese get what they paid for? The true test only time will reveal as the cost to maintain lines are unknown. For a starting price of only 3RMB it is the best way to travel around the city. Why can't U.S. cities, states and the Federal Government get their acts together and build projects that matter? With American muscle and U.S. only firms. Seems logical to me that a transit system is one great way to spend stimulus cash. If you are going to spend it anyway - why not get something tangible??? Go figure.
