Nice review. I think the accuracy variation in the open is probably within tolerance of the GNSS system. As you say, the GPS in a smart phone is not as good as one in, say, a Garmin and won't perform well under tree cover. However I used Blackstar for a couple of years without needing the Garmin. It is way better than my Samsung Galaxy whose GPS is pathetic. I reviewed Blackstar a few months ago on Progeocaching and thought it was pretty good.

Great Video! Thanks for all your and and entertaining work. I've had this one on my Blackberry for a couple years and use it as a back up to my GPSr but it is no substitute for a real GPSr although it will work in a pinch. It is handy to have when new cache posts near where I am and the GPSr is at home.

@FlightRiskAK1 I think it is fine for just that. Being free is always a plus and over time you should get a rather good geosense when looking for a geocache.
