This episode of Techcast Focus takes you through doing a remote install of OSX Server (Snow Leopard) on an Apple Mac mini server. Despite the name 'Remote Install' you cannot do a true remote install as you need as a minimum a keyboard connected! Do let me have ideas for future episodes - mark@ttfn.tv

  • @rdw3ut you should click upgrade because while your computer is on your essentially erasing the operating system on your hard drive not allowing you to go further into an install process. Upgrades go through the necessary steps so that you don't lose data

  • @rdw3ut " An install is already in progress. You cannot begin another install from this computer". That target disk window has been up for eight hours without going to the installing window. When I was ask whether I wanted to upgrade or erase disk on Xserve, I click on erase. Would that have anything to do with why my install is taking so long to install on 80gb harddrive? I am attempting to do a remote install.

I then click install again. I then would get a pop-up message that said,

I however have slight problems with login from windows pcs. users on my mac servers cannot login into their accounts, and i have to enter the admin pswd for them to access their shared drive.. can you shed some light on this..thanks once again.
