Such a beautiful song. Absolute, unconditional love. That last line , "Honey, I love you," has always stayed in my heart and mind since the first time I heard this song. I remember thinking, "My God, I'd give anything to have a girl (later, 'a woman') say those words to me with the sincerity and feeling that Karen Carpenter put into singing them. A lot of years have gone by (I'm 57 now) and I still haven't heard them. Probably never will, at this point, but I still dream when KC sings them.

What a beautiful song by a likewise beautiful lady, sung in such a meaningful and easy way, Karen was by all accounts a nice person who just needed to be loved and cherished, wrapped in cotton wool and kept from harm. I can't listen to any of her songs without at some stage feeling a lump in my throat for the sense of loss. Karen we all miss you so badly,if only you could see we loved you exactly as you were and however much you changed , we always would. God bless you Karen x

@Shinymensdressshoes: Thanks. This is one of my favorite Carpenters' songs, filled with nostalgia and a sense of loss for something idiotic I did so many years ago.
