Safiya Washington, 17, of the Philly Youth Poetry Movement team is interviewed after performing a poem which vividly describes Bed-Stuy Brooklyn and her feelings about gentrification. Here's a short clip of the poem and a bit of her interview.

  • Powerful when you told Ms Washington she was a Griot! She self defined her own answer in her spoekn word performance and her knowledge and insight! Jos continue to make strides in the direction you are going! This is a phenomenal way to pay homage to our ancestors and to continue the teachings of "A Griot's Work".
