Panasonic FZ150 - Night filming - Denver Christmas lights.

A brief test of my new Panasonic FZ150 in video mode. This brief video has 3 segments. In the first two, the microphone is set to its normal setting. In the final segment the it is set to zoom microphone which is supposed to improve distant sound. To be perfectly honest I couldn't detect a significant difference. At some time in the future I'll try to do a test with an external microphone.

The Panasonic FZ150 is a 12 megapixel still camera with a 24X lens (25-600 equivalent to a 35mm or full frame still digital camera) and some very advanced video capability. This video was filmed in night scene mode. - 1/3 Ev and automatic exposure and focus. Still mode for the camera is based around a 1/2.3 sensor, but for a small sensor it has very state of the art image quality and relatively low noise. Of course a small sensor will never equal the quality of much larger sensors in DSLRs, but for the average person or for a photographer who doesn't want to have to carry around a Kit with camera body, tripod and multiple lenses it is an excellent alternative.

I apologize for the jerky nature of the film, I am a still photographer and this is some of my first ever video. I recognize that I will need to improve on my video and panning skills.

What building is that in Denver? The city did a great job of lighting. Was it a private Co?

@CharlesHenrySanson That is the Denver City and County Government Building. Years ago, this was a tax payer supported project but now it is supported by a Private Foundation so no tax money is used. Citizens and companies donate to the foundation to keep the lights going each year. Not sure who actually does the lights. But they are a Denver Hallmark since 1935. Since 2009, they have been using LED spotlights and rope lights.

crisp and clear - the FZ150 takes amazingly good video- this looks to be a very bright scene? I have the FZ150, hoping to film some of the lights in the burbs and wondering how well it will handle lower light levels? Were you using iA setting?

Thanks for the test vid with the new FZ150 David.Im still using the FZ20 .LOL nice to be able to zoom and shoot.at the same time.
