CEBC SUNSET M.S. Fellowship Class of 2006 Part 1 of 2

ABLAZE
To the CEBC Sunset Middle School Fellowship Class of 2006

That first day of fellowship, solo I was
My faith God was testing, I knew this because
Two boys had arrived, who I knew not before
And who would've guessed it when one of them swore!

I smiled and thanked God for the challenge ahead
And trusted that lessons of Truth would be fed
So later that year, two boys became three
Then four and then five, when God gave to me...

A partner to match, and to serve side-by-side
We prayed for God's grace to bring kids to life
And then partner three jumped on board in year two
This trio complete, as our little boys grew...

Into young men who pray and who struggle with sin
Short-round young disciples stretched up, out, and thin
Your voices are changing, your bodies also
But God's love, I pray, you will never outgrow

These three years were filled with a whole lot of fun
When trav'ling around in the fog or the sun
To Camp Koinonia or KCDC
Or just to my house for a game of sardines

A car wash, or wrestling at sleepover nights
Or Fan-fest, or movies, or bowling a strike
Or rolling a gutter-ball even with bumpers...
Or strolling in Golden Gate Park in the summer

Or hearing the Newsboys in concert sing "SHINE"
Or cooking a lunch for the others to dine
Hanging at Tyler's or PZ's or Vince's
Barbecues, swimming at summer events

How can I forget that most infamous day
When walking the maze that was made out of hay
Or seeing the sight of that dirty pigpen
(Three boys know how awful that memory's been)

But greater than all of these various places
What brought me great joy was the look on your faces
When special events that were based on God's word
Brought faith to your lives because Truth you had heard

"The End of the Spear" or "Return of the King"
The Valentine's love-feast we called "The Wedding"
Or the Bible Bash Food Fight or Alcatraz Night
Or breaking down trophies that we idolized

So many more memories, can't fit 'em all here
But God knows each one and He's always so near
Each game and each scripture verse points us to Christ
Remember that He is the Way, Truth, and Life

May your heart be His home, and your "Faith like a Child"
As you "Shine" for His glory, and burn like a wild
Fire ablaze with God's love and His grace
In all the new classes and friendships you'll make

My prayer for you is that you'll fear and obey
The Lord throughout high school and everyday
God's word will accomplish His work in your heart
I'm just humbled that He let me play a small part

I thank God for bringing you into my life
For all of the blessings, the joy and the strife
He suffered and died so that we might be one
And He lives that this bond may be never undone

To God alone be the Glory!
