@Phase42 very true, but i think the very best of country songwriting has to be johnny cash. he set a foundation for all music, and has the respect of musicians all over. He put dark into music.

Clint Black is one of the most excellent country songwriters ever. I love the fact that he's written all his own songs (I think "Desperado" is the only thing he's recorded that he didn't write himself).

I heard that line, "Wherever you go, there you are" years and years ago, and I always thought it was just a silly bit of nonsense stating the obvious. It wasn't until I heard this song that I realized it's actually a rather deep statement. It expresses the fact that for most of us, *we* are the root of our own problems. Whether you try to escape your problems through drugs or alcohol, or by hopping from one relationship to the next, or moving from town to town, you always bring yourself along.

Also a wonderful song for those who love someone with an addiction and is not ready or willing to admit that they have a problem. You can't help someone until they are ready to accept the truth and seek help.

Classic Clint!
If you've never had to fight addiction, God Blessed You. This song came out shortly after I started fighting for my freedom. This is one of, if not the best songs ever written about alcoholism. I wore this tape out. Thank you for posting!!
