The Axis Harbor at our local pond is a large, shallow bay. Only a small part of it is marked off for the Axis port itself, so the rest of the area is a very popular place to battle. it is also, without question, the single most popular place to sink in our entire pond, earning the nickname of "Balsa Bottom Sound". In our first sortie on July 10, 2010, no less than three ships were sunk within 5 feet of each other in the shallow waters of the Sound. I took my trusty RC Hero from its place of honor aboard HMS Rodney, and spent a few minutes filming the wrecks before retrieving them.

In order of appearance: USS Cimarron (WWII oil tanker), IJN Haguro (WWII Heavy Cruiser), SMS Prinz Eugen (WWI Dreadnought Battleship).

  • My question is what type of camera did you use? I am interested most in underwater photography. Can you give me more info?

  • @AllatoonaBass I used the RC Hero waterproof camera. It has both a video and a still pictures mode, but I only use it for video. Mine has a wide-angle lens, but you can get other versions with a more traditional viewing angle if you want.

  • ive been wanting to do this but i cant find any ships where did you buy them?

  • @rammsteinfan19908 I would highly recommend you visit the RC Naval Combat website. It has answers to all your questions, and more.

  • can u make a video series on how u build a boat? cheers!

  • @sgtnick09 I'd love to, but my previous shopmaster was not fond of cameras in his workshop, and now that I'm in the navy I'm not building ships much anymore.

  • very nice underwater photography. a model built like a real ship would make a very fascinating decayed shipwreck.

  • @ddemko100 Of course we recover them. I just wanted to share with everyone else the wondrous experience that is diving for sunken wrecks.

  • @rammsteinfan19908 most people build 'em and invest like a grand into it.

    It's above most budgets =/

  • @ddemko100

they recover them, they spend upto $1000 usd on building these...

The cannons alone can cost around $200 USD, lol
