There is a Native American saying: We did not inherit the land from our fathers; we are borrowing it from our children. Oscar and Hammerstein wrote the music and lyrics: "We know we belong to the land, and the land we belong to is grand." The land does not belong to anyone, neither to us or to all of humanity. We maintain the land in trust for future generations of all life. All life is connected, all life is one with existence. The idea of property and ownership is the original culprit.
