Defense Shines Again in Home Win Over Station Camp
Blackman (#2 in State) coach Philip Shadowens called this week "assignment football week" for the Blaze. They passed with flying colors and remain unbeaten (6-0) after a 45-10 win over visiting Station Camp Friday night at The Inferno. Going against Station Camp's wing-T, fifth-ranked Blackman held the Bison (2-3) to 146 total yards on offense. The Blaze got off to that quick start with scores on their first two drives. DeShawn Smith #7 turned what looked to be a run stuffed at the line of scrimmage into a 49-yard touchdown after he spun out of the crowd at the line and broke down the sideline. On the next drive, Martin Dietrich #6 took a pass at the Station Camp 25 and turned it into a 35-yard score to push the lead to 14-0 midway through the first quarter. Station Camp's best defense was its offense on its second drive. The Bison grinded out a 16-play drive that went 76 yards to the Blackman 4. However, the Blaze surrendered just a 25-yard field goal. Blackman had another quick drive, but it was not a welcomed one. Station Camp's defense held the Blaze to a three-and-out and zero yards and looked ready to attack a defense that had only been off the field for 64 seconds. But a fumble recovered by Dietrich at the Blackman 29 set up a Jacques Smith #22 19-yard scoring run to push the lead to 21-3. The Blaze tacked on a 36-yard Jason Puhr field goal as time expired in the second quarter. Jacques Smith's 50-yard run from the Blackman
17 helped setup the score. Station Camp was limited to 64 yards a turnover and three points on 28 plays in the first half, while Blackman put up 24 points thanks to 217 yards on 21 plays. Station Camp scored its lone touchdown thanks to a fumble recovery at the Blackman 3 four minutes into the second half. Blackman answered back with three scores on its next three drives. It was the Itavious Mathers #4 show on the first drive as he carried four times for all 75 yards, including a 35-yard run and a 32-yard score. Collier #5 scrambled for 44 yards on the first play of the next drive to setup an 8-yard scoring run by DeShawn Smith. A Brant Luker interception setup another Mathers score two plays later when he ran it in from 16 yards. Tay Smith #1 Jess Patton #44 Dejaun Brown #2 Jake Armstrong #10

It looks like the white team didn't really have a chance. Their players look smaller, less athletic and talented and on top of that they don't execute the wing t well. The point of the wing t is misdirection and angle blocking, neither of which they accomplish well.
