DDB Awards Scientology Founder, Anti-Drug Crusader
From: http://www.ddb.gov.ph

February 12, 2008 (Quezon City) - Known for the drug rehabilitation and education techniques that he developed, L. Ron Hubbard earned a plaque of recognition from the Dangerous Drugs Board yesterday, with world famous singer and Scientology advocate David Pomeranz receiving the posthumous award on his behalf.

(L. Ron Hubbard, is known for writing science fiction novels and founding the Church of Scientology. Hubbard was a highly controversial public figure during his lifetime. Many details presented by Hubbard of his life and knowledge, remain disputed by critics, media, scientists, and governments. Some documents written by Hubbard himself suggest he regarded Scientology as a business, not a religion. In one letter dated April 10, 1953, he says calling Scientology a religion solves, "a problem of practical business". And status as a religion achieves something, "more equitable...with what we've got to sell.")

Secretary Anselmo S. Avenido Jr., DDB Chairman, recognized Hubbard for his humanitarian commitment and as the source of information and wellspring of inspiration. He further stressed that the DDB is sincerely grateful for his contributions in the fields of drug education and rehabilitation, and for being someone who did not stop at being mere anti-drug advocate but instead came up with a concrete technology to counter the ill effects of drugs.

(From Saint Petersburg Times, published March 29, 1999: High-ranking Scientologists have been jailed in Italy, France and Spain in connection with what were called crimes associated with Scientology practices, and France keeps Scientology on a list of organizations that need to be monitored for cult activity. In 1978 Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard was convicted in absentia and sentenced to four years in prison for making fraudulent claims that he could cure physical illnesses. Hubbard never returned to France to serve the prison sentence.)

Born in Nebraska in 1911, Hubbard spent years of research on human mind and existence which led him to the founding of Scientology, a religious philosophy that offers practical tools on how to improve ways of living. The DDB adopted in a three-day seminar beginning October 3, 2007 the series of Training Routines that he developed to improve the communication skills of anti-drug educators. Foreign organizations applying Hubbards ideas, Foundation for Drug-Free Philippines and Narconon International, helped organize the event at the DDB Conference Room.

(From Interfax, April 6, 2007: Moscows South District office of public procurator instituted legal proceedings against the headship of the Narconon-Standard narcological clinic that bases its methods on Scientology. During a search in the Narconon office, the procurators office and federal security officers seized some documents and unidentified medications, which might be strong psychotropic drugs used to control the drug addicted teens consciousnesses in order to convert them to Scientology.)

  • thanks

    great

  • your welcome

  • skeptical: from what we've seen, samhsa is an agency of the united states' government. we doubt they can help us since we are speaking of an agency of the philippine government.

for now, our goal is to raise awareness about this narconon issue. we hope to get the attention of other agencies that oversee the medical profession in general and the pharmaceutical industry.

we cannot have dubious and potentially dangerous treatments getting prescribed to people who really need to be made well.

  • One of the most PROFOUNDLY DISGUSTING aspects of $cientology is NarCONon, a program KNOWN to CAUSE people to USE drugs.

Available statistical data indicates that at 2 years post-"treatment" a HIGHER PERCENTAGE of NarCONon customers (to call the patients or clients would imply some sort of legitimacy to this bullshit) RELAPSE AND BECOME ADDICTS AGAIN THAN IF THEY HAD NO TREATMENT WHATSOEVER!

Apparently the experience of NARCONON DRIVES PEOPLE TO USE AND BECOME ADDICTS.

    Fucking sick.

  • Unfortunately the crime syndicate's narCONon scam also kills people, ruins people's health, and prevents them from seeking and acquiring safe and effective interdiction for their drug abuse. The lives Hubbard destroyed seem endless.

  • ah! fuck! I thought I was the only guy in here. Good to see some blackup

  • The Northern Territory Department of Health has warned the Church of Scientology not to give people medical advice on how to detox from drugs and alcohol.

  • nice video what tts did u use?

  • The government is far more selsective on grant $'s than you seem to think.

My suggestion is that you voice your concerns to SAMHSA - the Substance Abuse, Mental Health Services Administration then. samsa (dot) gov, the agency which provides most of the money for drug abuse research.

For some reason your ocmment was marked as "spam." Don't know why. Oversight at the funding level CAN be effected by public commentary, you just have to get the right pepople's attention.
