I have an original recording of dreams of long ago by caruso, on victor talking machine co. record. I've played it several times. I wonder what it is worth to a
collector ?

@GermanOperaSinger I don't think it would've been possible for Caruso to write the lyrics without help, since his English was extremely limited. It sounds OK (when he's singing), but he had trouble understanding a few words, and his spoken English was broken. (I have never heard his speaking voice, but I can imagine what it may sound like.) He also had a lot of trouble with written English; he often misspelled and his grammar was not the best.

@jbeer82 XD Caruso was well-known for making silly faces in front of the camera. He had a good sense of humor!

Thanks for the lyrics. :) I did NOT know what Caruso was singing at first. XD

Thanks, Theo. Both nice lyrics and tune - and as usual sung with heartbreaking emotion...
this is very cool......beautiful song!!! I have a very old gramophone record from 1889 title "Dreams of Long Ago" - it was written by A. De Prossi, and copyrights owned by W. Witmark & sons. Do know if this is the same arrangement? This record is unplayable, but makes for a great piece of decor.

@UndergroudMusic Great that it makes for a good piece of decor :-)
No unfortunaley, it's not the same arrangement/song - Caruso is a decade or more later.

Mr. Froekjaer, again I wanted to say Thank You for letting me use this piece for my brickfilm "Wellsburg." I've gotten really good reviews of it, especially in the closing where "Dreams of Long Ago" plays. Thank you again. Sincerely, Corey L. Johnson
