Olivier Messiaen
Chants D'Oiseaux (1951)
Steve Ginefra, Schantz organ

Songs of four birds are heard in this work (No. 4 from Livre D'Orgue): blackbird, songthrush, robin and the nightingale. The composer associates this piece with the Easter season. Messiaen utilizes his characteristic Hindu rhythms here, as well as a loose twelve-tone compositional process.
