Punishment is death for 'Apostasy', only if these conditions are met: 1st an Islamic country must be in state of war from where he left, 2nd and if 'Apostasy' must have joined the enemy country, 3rd an 'Apostasy' must be a top ranking a military personnel. You see now, it is all about safety of larger number of people, not because of 'Apostasy' is left Islam. Number of the narrations says some people left Islam in the time of The Prophet, and they were not killed for leaving Islam.

This posting is nothing more than fabricated lies. There was a Jewish woman who poisoned food of The Prophet & killed close-companion of the Prophet. Yet she was unharmed by the Prophet.
