The reason I say Babylon does not coincide with modern Christianity is because she rides on 7 mountains, 5 have fallen, one now is, and the 7th is yet to come. Babylon has ridden on 5 past civilizations, and the one that "now is" was Rome, who was in power at the time of the writing of Revelations. The Whore has enslaved and murdered the people of God since the tower of babel and beyond. She tried to prevent the birth of Christ......

@msmelancholy1 .....Good insight, and I agree that there is a falling away according to the scriptures you posted, but to see the mystery of Babylon you have to look at Rev 17:1-11. 1) she is drunk with the blood of martyrs....She sits on 7 mountains, which are 7 kingdoms. @slimmeans The enslavement you spoke of is clearly explained in 2 Peter 2:1-22, esp. verses 18-20. The great falling away is explained in 2 Tim 3:1-9, and yes, this is talking specifically of christians, not the outside world as so many christians believe.

New Jerusalem: Rev ch. 21 and 22, esp. 21:9-10 which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jerusalem stands for the people of God, the Bride. In Isaiah 1:21-26, it should be clear 2 understand that is talking about christians. See Jeremiah ch. 2, see esp. verses 2, 13,19,20,21, 32 and ch 3 esp. 3 "you have had a HARLOT'S FOREHEAD" and v.6-25
