can someone explain this mission to me of what character your playing and who the teammates are there

in this mission your are playing an undercover agent and you had to kill makarov . You don't really have to kill any people in the airport beacause nothing happens the russians don't turn on you only if you shoot at them and that sucks , it would be cool if you could play this mission in 2 different ways !!
