  • The people watching this video are retarded. There's no reason you wouldn't be able to play it on any g. I was looking for locrian, and I couldn't beleive an ionian scale came up. I thought that was something everyone should know.

  • Hmmmm. Not much thought behind this comment. You had to learn it too at some point, right? Or were you born knowing?

  • now as for the modes of any scale can they be played anywhere on the fret board as well?..

  • Yeah, each of the modes of a particular Key has an specific notes on which it starts. But, if you change the key, then the modes move as well. Furthermore, different modes can work well as standalone scales over specific chord progressions. For example, D Dorian is a mode out of the C Major Scale so playing it over a C Major progression is the norm. But... the D Dorian mode can work really well over certain Dm progressions for example.

  • One example might be along the lines of Dm - F - C - G. But, take a close look... that progression, although in Dm, is all based on notes found in the C Major Scale!

  • is der more varations for the g major scale

    and

  • Yeah, you can start it on any G on the neck. the pattern with look a bit different though. You can also play it, 3 notes per fret. Look in my videos to find the video on playing the scale as 3 notes per fret. -D

  • I don't even know where I learned it. If I had remembered where I learned it, I probably wouldn't think these people were so retarded.
