Penn Jillette on Atheism and Religion + Piers Morgan's "You don't know, therefore Jesus" Fallacy

I had to watch again, Penn is right on the money. To have the humility to say "I don't know" and the inquisitiveness to study our natural world for the patterns of life is a hell of a lot more satisfying than "God did it". Why try and rationalize with baseless assumptions? We make this more complex than it has to be. Sometimes things just are...Enjoy it, indulge in our reality and look for the truth, not the incomprehensible.

Tolerance is obviously something we need to work.

@darkrood (Cont) "god-like" is just a personal opinion because the system would have be perfect and amazing, but there are many flaws that believers would not like this creator to be accounted for. A belief that there is a creator is nice and fuzzy, but that's when most people who believe in such being take a leap that this all-powerful being put human above other animals, yet no evidence indicates so.
-
Nope, god does not have to create. In many definition, god is simply a being that is superior to existing human by description. If you mean God= a super powerful creator, that is something more close to the definition of a Christian god. If you know DNA, you would know that there is absolutely no mercy in the creation of life. As in, a healthy, good-mannered, out-going mother will always have baby with birth defects, regardless of the amount of prayer or good work.

I'm glad we exported this sanctimonious wank to America.

You can't see air, so it must not exist...

@SineFractal Why, because he believes in something?

@darkrood Ok ,forget Wikipedia,in fact forget the dictionary if you like. But from what i understand,in any definition, God = a super powerful creator. From our science we have discovered how super powerful the workings of our DNA is,and all the other information we have in our fiber. All this stuff that creates us is very god like, its like atheists are denying science in my opinion. I think what atheists disagree with is the Religion/churches version of what a 'god' is, which is much different

@missbrownshoe Wikipedia is not a good source for information. Not even high school senior paper accepts this kind of research. Wikipedia definition can just be some words some people put it on there.
BTW....atheist are just people who do not believe in any god, their stance on creation and evolution are going to vary.
p.s. "chaotic organisms causing creation, evolution, etc." I haven't heard that one from any atheist
-
Im interested in getting a atheists opinion on this-- Wikipedia definition of 'god' : ''God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe''. Isn't the atheists view that there is only chaotic organisms causing this creation, evolution and all that jazz. But doesn't that still mean that it is a supernatural creator (even if its just organisms, cells) that CREATED EVERYTHING? and therefor ..it is a god.. a creator, that creates life? which debunks them

Morgan is an idiot.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It is better to believe in God and be wrong then not to believe in God and be WRONG! God exists and it does not matter if I believe.

Pascal's wager FAIL! This is premised on the belief that you can feign belief or even choose to believe. It is also premised on the idea that a particular god concept exists, i.e. Yahweh who will punish you for non-belief, to the exclusion of all others.
