Night Flying RC Guru, Dave Herbert (See Feb 91 Model Airplane News Magazine) was also was the inventor of the first 2 channel helicopter with no tail rotor.

Here Dave demonstrates his invention which later became mass produced by Kyosho corporation.

It was more of an overseas sensation because the radio that was elected to be sold with it, (not by Dave), was a Mode I radio.

In the USA, modelers use Mode II, making it difficult for them to fly a Mode I Helicopter.

Be that as it may, it flew very well, was dubbed as one of the biggest selling models in Kyosho's history, while scientifically demonstrating that you can fly a helicopter without a tail rotor as long as you keep moving forward, including landing like an airplane.

This prototype would also hover in a 5 knot wind.

The original model is now on display in the AMA history of Model Aviation at the San Diego Aerospace Museum, San Diego, California. USA
Thanks for watching.
