Nice. I was an avid surfer while stationed at Kadena. Used to like a place called Turtles there when the typhoon swells were in. Some good reef breaks too even when the swell is down. Buma and Ikea Island. Hedo Misaki can be magical. My local friend told me to catch a boat ride from fisherman in Naha to place called green bowl or something. I never made it. I'll be back someday. Thanx for the vid.

thanks for the comment. i surfed green bowl before during a huge typhoon. it was hawaiian 10-12' and crazy. be careful out there because it's freakin shallow... and not too many fishermen take their boat out there during typhoons so you have to find a brave one. good luck...

haha, thanks for the comment. the reason i don't take video of good surf in okinawa is because i'm usually surfing it. you and i know how good it gets so let's just leave it at that. but when you get a chance, check out the go-naminori website. a lot of photos of surf in okinawa... mahalo...

AWESOME! I use to walk around in Okinawa with a generic Quiksilver Tshirt and a board. I'd wax the board get it wet, and drop it in sand to get that "look". Then i'd walk around Sunabe. Ahh the memories!

2nd reply on this. Now that i think about it, the name of the place wasn't green bowl. It was green pole due to the large green reef marker placed there.

I think only two idiots made the swim from Kudaka to Green Bowl. I was one of them. It took us a while, and although we nearly got ran over by a cargo ship passing through the channel, we made it.

Kudaka was chest high, but Green Bowl was easily head high, and scary shallow.

We surfed for about an hour and then had to swim back to Kudaka.

One of the dumbest things I've ever done.
