Im a cello major and violin major thats right double major. I think she has talent but needs to slow. you see we string musicians stress this fact musical memory,not only is it in the brain but the fingers muscle memory. So if she continues to play at a fast tempo with bad intonation, her fingers will remember to play out of tune. As perlmann once signed a program when i was at his concert some years ago. He wrote with much love and practice slowly. ithzak!!. Think about that and what it means!!

So you're asking her to prove what? That she could play unaccompanied Bach at 10?

It was constructive, and good, criticism. It doesn't matter if your kid can muddle their way through Bach C-major at allegro assai if it's not IN TUNE. Intonation is all that matters. Tempo is largely discretionary, as it's a baroque SOLO piece (senza basso).

Oh, and before concerts, I play the piece 2/3s slower than I do on stage. Why? Well, Jaqueline said it already.

@violinM Don't be so defensive. jacquelinescellist is absolutely right in all that she says. This is an impressive performance for one so young, but there is much to be done to improve Maria's playing and I hope she will get good advice from a fine teacher. I recommend Felix Andrievsky, if you can get to England. He helped me enormously.

Great try! You are very talented for your age However there are a few things that I though might be useful to you.

1. The tempo is rather fast! although this is your interpretation I felt that if you slowed down and relaxed a bit more then your intonation would be more accurate

2. Why don't you focus a bit more on the phrasing: there doesn't seem to be much dynamic contrast e.t.c

3.Relax a bit more: your bowing arm looks v.stiff and by relaxing you will have a better tone!

I think she just wanted to play it at the same speed as her brother but wasn't ready. These ppl critiquing a 10 year old on youtube and then being surprised by a "well lets see you do better" response from a 10 yr old........ahh geez

You're hitting notes and most of the time they're the right ones, and don't get me wrong, but I think you're trying to race and forcing yourself through repertoire you're not emotionally or technically ready for. I honestly think teachers shouldn't push students towards music like this until they're mature enough for the ideas and emotions, much less the technical skill.

Argentina tiene algo que yo como chileno siempre le he envidiado: un amplio abanico cultural. El otro día, en este mismo sitio, veía a un niño con un violín, que casi lo hacía bailar tocando a Paganini. Y yo me pregunto ¿Por qué acá en Chile no ocurre eso? Chicos talentosos siempre existen, pero depende en gran medida del país, que estos se den a conocer. Bien por Argentina, algún día me iré a estudiar piano clásico al gran Buenos Aires.
