This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.

This one may not be for everyone.

When I first booted up Crimson Tears, it really reminded me of the quest mode in the Tobal, and Ehrgeiz on the PS1, and for good reason. DreamFactory, the developers of Crimson Tears, also developed those two previous efforts.

As you can see, CT is a mix between a dungeon crawl RPG, and a beat 'em up. It's a pretty fun little game for those who can get into it. Your characters gain levels, and you can buy and find items that are usable throughout the game including various weapons. There are also boss fights to be had at the end of each randomly generated dungeon.

Due to the nature of the game itself, it is a little repetitive, so some people will get bored with it, but those who stick it out will find a very enjoyable adventure. Also the game can get pretty hard, so make sure to level up your characters properly, and also be sure to keep an eye on your heat gauge.

Crimson Tears is only available on the PS2

  • I'm still looking for this game >:{

  • 89 cents with case and manual, w00t!

  • this game is good and have potential but is too repetitive :/

  • I have this one. Its not that good andn it does get old an hour in. Very repetitive gameplay. This is a pure dungeon crawling/grinding game (you only play in the sewers not in the city which was disappointing for me. It had its moments but I got bored. Bought a game called Oz at the same time and I enjoyed it much better. It was only released in Japan, Asia and EU.

  • Man i really wanted this game when it first came out. I've totally forgotten how much I wanted this game. Maybe I'll get it

  • Huh, this game looks alright.

  • Ahh me and my friends played this game alot back in 07.

  • One reason why I thought this game had potential was that it was a cel shaded fighting game with a decent combo system. Its repetitive, but there are very few button mashing beat-em-ups that have some sort of depth, with maybe the bouncer as a light exception.

  • Wow really good project digging gems out of a tons of PS2 games. I remember playing Crimson Tears and found it enjoyable but as the title says it was really underrated.

    Thanks for this vids I'll take my time watching all of em :D

  • I miss this game... just the specific way everything was made and specifically what they chose to combine... I loved this.
