@urbex2007 I believe it is the emphasis on what to do in the perfect world that does not help. On a test if you park and leave the car in gear you will fail, but they don't tell these learners that if you have to park on a slope it is the best thing to do because if the handbrake fails it won't roll down the road.

@scottlikesvideos Good point. What happens when you park up between two cars and then some idiot parks 1 inch from your bumper. It prevents you getting back out of the space! When I did my test we didn't do parking or motorways etc, we just did driving, emergency stop, reverse around a corner. 30mins later and a couple of simple questions. That was it, a pass! Now it seems more complicated, but if drivers are meant to be taught to this standard, why are so many new ones terrible at driving
