Guitar Hero 3 LED mod I made. This is just a quick vid I took on my cell phone. There's a selector switch in the neck to change the color from all blue LED's to color changing RGB LED's which cycle between red, green, & blue. Each color lasts for about 2-3 seconds, & they are not in sync with eachother, so it's kinda like the stage lighting at a show how all the colors randomly move around & change. I've still maintained the removable neck feature. There is dip switch located in the battery compartment to switch the lights constantly on, or to activate when you press the strum button. In the video though, I accidentally called it the "fret button". Still need a little work on it, as well as some additional mods to be done later(which is why I used a dip-switch so I can add on easily.

  • if theres no bateries how dous it work lol

  • I added a separate battery pack inside the guitar so the LED's wouldn't drain the power from the actual controller. I'd rather be able to keep playing than watch a light show, haha.

  • hmm think you can pop it open and video tape what you did? im trying to find an easy led mod like this.

  • I doubt it. There's way too much crap inside the neck, it took forever to get it back together without pinching wires. And it wasn't that easy. Took me over 11 hours if I remember correctly.

  • Did you use a drill to cut holes so you could put in LEDs or another tool? That was a great mod.

  • Yeah, I used a dremel. I actually used 1/4" acrylic rod for the jewels. The LED's are behind them. I just wanted it to glow, I didn't want the LED's to project a lot of light. Plus it makes the light 1/4" wide instead of just 3mm. Not only that, but I wanted the light to come from the same spot regardless which color you have it set as, and I didn't want two LED's sticking out either. I wanted it to look clean. Thanks for the compliment :-)
