I love this tune, which was written by Jay Gorney (lyrics by E.Y. "Yip" Harburg) in the 1930s and recorded by, among others, Bing Crosby and Al Bowly. It's very bluesy without being a blues as such. My version starts off with the verse and then goes into two choruses of the main theme. I've given it a Broonzy-ish feel.

  • hey i don't know if you'd be ok with sending me the tabs to this, but if you are i would be ecstatic... really great job with the song intriguing...

  • See the "more info" link for the URL... :-)

  • I'm a violin player and I sent this video to my guitar accompanist so we can do this song. Really great Mr. Will!

  • Glad you liked it - I hope you enjoy playing it! :-)

  • Thanks, I was thinking about covering this tonight in honor of the new Great Depression we're about to enter.

I hear you going direct, are you using any other enhancements aside from 'verb?

  • No - I go through a Lin6 Pod to set EQ levels, but reverb is the only FX I use. :-) Will

  • 3 people can't spare a dime. . . or time to play the song right. You're amazing, It's been a while since I felt the urge to subscribing to someone's channel, you were that trigger bro.

  • Nice rendition. Love the tone of your guitar. I was at a Workshop with Mark Hanson last week and he played this song beautifully as well. I myself have trouble with it because of the thumbed low F. I have stubby fingers and can't get the the thumb around the neck and still have the high E string open. You do a nice job with this song.

  • HEY, IT IS THAT DEAD GUY FROM THE UNGRATEFUL ALIVE!

  • Im just beginning to play this song with the finnish words ;) ur version is awesome.

  • if you start singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in a minor key at 0:38 it sounds really awesome.
