Here is how I make homemade butter:

What You Need:
electric mixer
whipping cream

Steps:
1- pour whipping cream into mixer
2- turn to medium-high speed
3- let mix passed the whip cream stage ... mix until the butter and buttermilk separates : this may take about 20 minutes or so
4- squeeze milk from butter (I use a tea towel :: you could also use cheesecloth)
5- use each one right away or store in fridge or store in freezer

1 litre of whipping cream made 2 cups of butter and 2 cups of buttermilk

Enjoy your salt free freshly made butter!!!

  • @coriannhorton 1 litre of whipping cream makes 2 cups of butter and 2 cups of buttermilk. The price of the cream turned out roughly the same as a block (1lb or 2 cups) of butter, but this method also gets you 2 cups of buttermilk -- great for your pancakes -- add instead of "regular" milk

  • this is such a great idea for baking and such. does it work out to be cheaper this way?
