Another version of Scarborough Fair, this one using stained glass to tell the story. The lyrics are slightly different from the Simon and Garfunkel version.

  • @AkuKyuubi No, theirs is a "cover", and as unauthentic as it can be... these ladies on the other hand do give the kind of medieval feel it should have, albeit with a modernish arrangement. Besides their voices are far superior to those two guys... personally I find their version the most boring one by far, it makes me feel like falling asleep. This one is more authentic, it is harrowing, ethereal, almost magical, not the countrish thing Simon and Garfunkel made of this old English Ballad.

  • @AkuKyuubi original er dont think so 1253 must be old men then

  • In the interest of accurary as to the lyrics and origin this

rather takes care of Simon & Garfunkel doesn't it?

Don't me wrong, I like S&G's version..this is just more

traditional to the actual story behind the song.

  • Incredible voices-a classic!

  • @JoyofPoetry5 since you can't control what the school choir does why don't you record your own version and upload it onto you tube!

  • Definately one of the best versions out there. I wish I could find somone who sang the whole ballad though- I admit it's really long but I'd stilllove to hear it- specially if this group were doing it.

    anyway- thanks for sharing. :)

  • This is for sure one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

  • Celtic Woman got competition!

  • ALL RIGHT , EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU FOR PUTTIG SO MUCH BEAUTY AND SOUL OUT THERE FOR US TO ENJOY AND WISH WE COULD DO HALF AS WELL.

  • @jonfromoz1 A castle even, dating back at least to the Roman occupation

  • @Augustus077 i agree. the Simon & Garfunkel version may be the most well-known one, this doesn´t mean it´s the best (but neither the worst). as this song is so old, there are many versions.

this version is among my favorites, too: the acapella singing & instrumentation create a mystical atmosphere which i miss in many other versions.
