I miss Elway. I think that he was one of the top-3 QB's to ever play. There are a lot of people out there on message boards that think that he is overrated, but their opinion is ignorant.
I attribute the run success to the fact that they wouldn't let Tebow pass more than his inability to pass. And u don't have to pass for 400 yards a game if you have a good coaching staff Not making crucial mistakes wins football games. In fact, the only real improvement I noticed this year was the addition of Tebow and a somewhat stepped up defensive performance. Otherwise I didn't see much of a difference from last year. We started out 1-4 and Tebow took us to the playoffs. Amazing!
I think Tebow's ability to pass is far better than people give him credit for. I believe his first year as a starter was severely hampered by "PISS POOR" receiving (they dropped sooo may of Tebow's perfectly thrown balls, must have been well over 200 dropped balls) ...and a bad running game, ever though we were first in the league in run ...and bad play calling by Fox. To say I'm unimpressed by the Broncos coaching staff in an understatement. Defense wasn't very good either
@madrecka Hey, even as a die hard Bronco fan I loved Montana too. Definitely the greatest that ever played ...second possibly only to Brady ...and believe me I hate saying that, but I have to be honest with myself. I loved the Elway years but I never seen the pure ability in Elway to win games by the sheer act of will that I see in Tebow. Tebow just has the "IT" factor and I believe will be better and more beloved in Denver than Elway ever was. ...guess time will be the judge. :)
@sweetbilly John Elway is in the Top 3 QBs that I've seen. I have no problem if you or anyone else listed him #1 he is definitely a winner and a Half of Famer but I'll take Joe Cool I'm bias as a 49ers fan.
@sweetbilly I'm a 49ers fan and I believe that Montana is the greatest QB that I've seen since I started watching football way back in 1980 but no I disagree with your point that Tebow will be better than Elway. Never!!!
Sad thing is it took Elway like 4 years to get two wins in a row ...and he never really played a good team and won that year :P I was sure the Broncos were going to label him a flop when he suddenly just started dominating teams. People will disagree, but I believe Tim Tebow is gonna eclipse Elway and Denver's best Q ever. He won more games his first year as starter than Elway did his first year. Not to mention took us to the AFC division championship!
@madrecka I have to agree Montana was unbelievable, but had Elway had a good enough team to actually win those other three Super Bowls he went to I'm confident Elway would now be called the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game.
@turboreattore The '86 Giants, the '87 Redskins and the '89 49ers all had buzzsaw defenses against one plus thats the NFC won Super Bowls in the '80s through the mid '90s over AFC teams. The Broncos in the '80s played teams in the Super Bowl with great defenses. You have to admit that.
