I take 8000 IU/day all year to reach a measured 77 ng/ml blood serum 25-hydroxy D. 8000 IU/day is, therefore, not enough.

Dr Holick is awesome, both his knowledge and his presentation skills. His book "The Vitamin D Solution" is an excellent reference. People with any condition should look into adding a daily dose of 4,000 - 5,000IU per day to their vitamin regime. Remember that most agricultural soil is depleted of vitamins and minerals, and most food is now irradiated, so you need to take supplements. Some food is lacking in as much as 90% vitamin potency compared to 30 years ago.
