Elphaba and Glinda run from the Emerald City guards.

More of my stuff here: http://etherstar.deviantart.com/
I wanted to build up my portfolio before beginning my job search, and as part of that I created this. Using the musical "Wicked," I drew a storyboard for "Defying Gravity" as if it were an animated feature. Those of you who have seen the play will notice some differences. Some of these were to make it more visually interesting as a cartoon, others because the audio doesn't have all of the dialogue breaks that feature in the play.

I hope you all enjoy!

  • What software did you use to make this mock up Animated storyboard, please? Thanks

  • @muzafar001 Adobe Flash CS3, but I wouldn't recommend it. Flash is meant to handle vector images so it crashed a lot while I was putting this together. I think After Effects might handle this sort of thing better and I've heard good things about Storyboard Pro.

  • Using the broom so early on was fitting in the context, so I liked it. I love Glinda stepping over the rug and the Fiyero part and the guards and... wow. This is all so amazing. The angles and shots you chose were very intelligent decisions. You should be so proud! It's brilliant.

  • Amazing job with the storyboard, you'll certainly get a great job later on in life XD i really want to see this animated

  • I seen how you referenced the attic scene from Return to Oz! I love it

  • Dude, I would dare you to animate this. It would be phenomenal.

  • So so so good. Amazing work.

  • Oh WOW. that was beautiful. So very glad you made it different from the musical. After all, you can do so many things with animation you can't do with real people, and you really took advantage of that. this looks really good. Very empowering. I could see it as a finished product in my head... Oh, i wish this would actually be made. It would be so cool. *sighs in happiness*

  • You really are quite amazing. I've never seen the play or read the book but this really gives me a sense of what's going on in the story. Kudos must be given. <3
