Quick 0-60 run on my stage 2 2008 WRX. Traction control off, launched from 3000 rpm's (max torque), mashed the throttle, and slipped the clutch. Lost traction (cold tires), regained it at the top of first gear. Based on when the speedometer needle starts moving in the vid, I estimate 4.5 seconds. Not bad for the stock td04!

Specs:

2008 WRX Sedan
TurboXS Catback Exhaust
Tseudo Catless Downpipe
K&N Panel Air Filter
XPT Opensource tune
Fuel: e85
Target Boost: 19psi
270hp/380tq (according to dyno of same setup by XPT Tuning)

  • Have you guys noticed any issues running a catless downpipe on the 2008 WRX? I have a 2008 WRX wagon and I just ordered a turbo back Megan exhaust (catless) with a Perrin filter and stage 2 map on the Cobb access port. Getting ready to install this weekend but I am having second thoughts on the catless downpipe. Everything I see for the staged maps are saying a high flow catted downpipe. Thanks for the input fellas.

  • @meatopher01 yeah one issue: boost creep. only happens if you go WOT in 4th or 5th gears below like 4000 rpms. other than that catless is awesome... you can hear the turbo spool in the exhaust :D

  • nice bro!!

i've got the ERZ catless downpipe, spt catback, perrin filter, and xpt stage 2 e85 as well!!

raped a 370z with it.. you got any kill stories?

also, i'm still on tank 1, is tank 2 even more powerful?! hahah hit me back

  • @mike6789k yeah i'd say tank 2 is def more powerful... and it runs even better after putting a couple more tanks through and the ecu learns the timing, etc. i don't have any kill stories, but kept up pretty well with a stage 2 '09. we did a 40 roll and he only started pulling on me in 4th gear. soooo much torque :D

  • TD04 has .50mm? correct? D'you know the stock pressure (psi or bar)?

  • damn you learned how to launch that very well. Thats what i am currently practicing in my 08 WRX trying to brin gmy 1/4 mile time down to 13.8 Currently running 14.258@95.55 and 14.211@93.79 with a .5 R/T... If i get that R/T right and launch much cleaner I know I can hit 13.8.. or atleast Ill try.

  • @wrblue08

Well stated. A small to medium sized turbo is much more fun in daily driving.

  • @chukitNrun

No, it starts moving at like 3.5 seconds in = 4.5 seconds.

  • @meatopher01 No issues whatsoever. Sounds like a rattlesnake ready to strike at light throttle.

  • Good vid. I'm running the exact same setup, sans the catback due to legalities where I live. Shifting >5500rpm is a little depressing since it just seems flat.

An '09+ has more potential but don't get me wrong...before the TD04 protune I did a VF52 swap for a couple of months and it was shit to drive on the 90km/h roads here. Swapped back to TD04 with a 19psi tune and I've never looked back. Massive low down torque with the instant spool is more enjoyable to drive.

  • I have an 08 WRX. just ordered the Accessport with the Perrin map Stage 1. Hoping to see a difference. Also have a K&N Drop in. Wont be telling my buddy with his turbo passat.. I cant wait to see the face when we finally race and i leave his ass far behind.

  • dawg that was like mid 3's!!
